As we step into a new year of possibility, The Brilliant Feminine is looking back at the powerful crescendo that closed out 2025. There was no better way to wrap up our year than in the heart of Samburu County, celebrating the strength and creativity of our youth at the Kijiji Cup 2025.
5 Months of Dedication: The Ubunifu Showcase

For five months, the girls in our Ubunifu Cohort have been training tirelessly, not just to learn physical moves, but to reclaim their sense of safety and confidence. At the Kijiji Cup, they finally took to the stage to perform a vital self-defense demonstration.
This wasn’t just a performance; it was a culmination of hard work, discipline, and the realization that a girl who can protect herself is a girl who can change the world.
A Transformative Partnership
This journey was made possible through our incredible partnership with Kaizen Martial Arts Club. We owe a massive debt of gratitude to Instructor Lona Abiero. Her expert guidance and mentorship have been truly transformative, turning fear into focus and hesitation into power for every girl involved.
In the Presence of Leaders
It was a distinct privilege to showcase our mission before an audience of esteemed leaders who are shaping the future of our nation. We were honored by the presence of:

- H.E. Governor Lati Leleit: It was a singular honor for The Brilliant Feminine to present the Governor with his medal—a moment of mutual respect and shared vision for Samburu’s youth.
- Former Women Rep. Maison Leshomo: A true champion for women’s rights.
- Abdikadir Ismail: The Principal of Mwangaza Muslim Secondary, whose support has been a cornerstone of our success.
- Local MCAs and Community Leaders: Who stood with us in recognizing the importance of youth empowerment.

Gratitude to Samburu
To the Kijiji Cup Committee and the people of Samburu: thank you for the warmest of welcomes. Your energy and hospitality reminded us why we do this work. We left the field feeling inspired, knowing that when we celebrate resilience and creativity together, the impact is limitless.
“We didn’t just end the year; we ignited a flame of confidence that will carry these girls through 2026 and beyond.”
Looking Ahead to 2026
If this was how we ended 2025, imagine what we have in store for this year! We are ready to scale our self-defense programs and reach even more communities.
